Malcolm thinks he's hiding something. Not the secret of how to get out of here or anything like that. But the fact that he doesn't seem all the concerned about not being able to leave sends up a lot of red flags for Malcolm. It's not a typical response, and anything atypical is enough to draw Malcolm's attention.

"Not any of the guests, no, but that's not why I'm asking questions. I'm looking for patterns. Whatever weird thing is going on here surely can't be completely by accident."
