Character Name: Yami Yugi/Atem (for in-game purposes, he'll probably be going by Yami) Journal:ifthereiswill Canon: Yu-Gi-Oh! Canon, AU, CRAU or OC: Canon Canon Point: Season 4, episode 19 "Self-Destruction" Reference:LINK Basic Info:
In a nutshell, Yami is 3000 year old spirit (5000 in the dub, but I go with the original sub timeline, at least for how old he's supposed to be) who at least physically resembles a teenager around seventeen years of age. He's actually an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh who has lost all memories about himself and who he was aside from a pharaoh, thanks to a spell he cast that wound up sealing himself and his enemy inside a mystical artifact known as the Millennium Puzzle.
His father died when he was young and it isn't clear what happened to his mother. Because of his father's untimely death, Atem became pharaoh at a rather young age, and as such, he was forced to grow up quickly. Eventually, a great evil arose in Egypt that threatened the safety of Atem's people, and in the process of the great fight, he cast a spell that would lock his soul and Zorc Necrophades (the great threat) inside the Millennium Puzzle. In order to do so, he used his name as the key to the spell, and because of that, he ordered that all traces of his name and any mentions of him be erased from history so that no one could ever unleash Zorc on the world again.
He died not long after that, and his soul was sealed away for 3000 years until the day that a young boy named Yugi Mutou put the pieces of the Millennium Puzzle together and released Atem's soul from inside said Puzzle. Now he and Yugi are partners and the two of them work together using Duel Monsters to fight off threats to their friends or to the stability of the world in general.
Age: Appears 17 but is actually a 3000 year old spirit. Race: Egyptian, but because he is a spirit using another's body as his host, he appears to very closely resemble Yugi, the one he shares a body with. Eye Color: Purple. Does your character have special powers or magical abilities? Yes
The Millennium Puzzle gives Atem a variety of abilities, such as being able to initiate Shadow Games and speak telepathically with Yugi. He is also able to perform what is called Mind Crush, which is essentially expelling an evil spirit from someone who has been possessed. The influence of the Puzzle also heightens Atem's senses and provides him with increased awareness when in a duel.
What is your character's greatest strength? He is incredibly strong-willed and determined, and very rarely does anything discourage or dishearten him. And while it took him some time to learn this from his partner Yugi, he tries his best to be understanding and empathize with the people that he encounters, whether he agrees with them or not. Although this was something he had to learn, ultimately, Atem is capable of displaying great kindness to others (with exceptions, of course).
What is your character's fatal flaw? He is very prideful, almost to the point of arrogance. Of course, he has great confidence in himself and his own abilities, but that confidence almost grows to be too much, and it sometimes leads him to moments of blindness when he forgets himself and goes too far. And because he's a very proud individual, he really doesn't like to lose or to be backed into a corner. In one incredibly important moment in Atem's story, he becomes so afraid of losing that he takes a drastic action that puts himself in danger of losing his soul, but at the last minute, his best friend and partner steps in and loses his soul insteaed. He wouldn't have done that if not for the fact that his proud streak is so strong and that when the stakes are high, he can't bear to lose.
If your character could have one wish granted, what would they ask for? The safety and happiness of his friends. Pick a rune for your character: ᛟ Othalan; "inheritance" Pick your character's top 10 traits: - Confident - Prideful - Articulate - Sacrificing - Egotistical - Stubborn - Serious - Tenacious - Perceptive - Flashy
Arrival: Accidental/Narnia Do you have an endgame in mind for your character? Since his endgame involves regaining his lost memories and finally going back to the Egypt that he remembers, I'm kind of leaving that open to whatever happens. If he finds happiness and makes some friends along the way, that's an endgame he (and I) can live with. Anything else?
