LOBBY

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
The lobby of the hotel is warm and gives off a welcoming feel. There is a sitting area with a couch and couple love seats in a warm green fabric around a coffee table to the right just inside the door. Three paintings hang opposite the sitting area on the wall, the art cohesive among them to easily know they were meant to hang together. One depicted a large serpent rising out of the water and wrapping around a ship, the middle one showed a wolf bearing down at a man tiny enough to look more like an ant than a person, and the final one looked to be of a beautiful woman but as you looked at the depiction of her, it was clear that half her face was missing the skin and only showed the fine bone structure of her face.

The reception desk sits against the back wall of the lobby area and had two wolves carved into the dark wood. The wolves were set on a curve to give the impression they were chasing a sun and moon between them. The desk is set up with three check in computers, though normally only one has a woman behind it to check you in. Behind the desk on the wall, there are several clocks depicting different hours depending on the city listed beneath it. Is one of them the city you call home - it likely is, no matter how small or if it's actually in this world. Your city's clock also seems to be stuck, the second hand ticking along with the others but never moving so time doesn't advance.

There's a back door to the left of the reception desk that leads out to some of the activities on your itinerary. As well, about mid-lobby there is a hallway to the right, just after the sitting room that leads to the elevator and first floor amenities. To the left, across from the hallway, are a set of double doors that lead to the Hotel's restaurant.

RESTAURANT

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Through the double doors set into the left wall of the lobby is a restaurant where you can sit down and grab a bite. There are several tables for individuals or small families, as well as one large party table that seats ten at a time. As well, there is a bar with stool seating along one wall. The restaurant has some Norwegian classics, but also does sell burgers and salads for those a little less adventurous in trying the local cuisine.

The restaurant does note that not everyone will want to eat here and can be ordered to-go, so you can return to your room for a quiet meal.

They also assist the hotel with room service orders.

POOL

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
The pool is found on the first floor down the hallway by the elevator. There's a small corridor that leads to restrooms and changing rooms that you can move through to enter the pool itself. There is no life guard on duty and signs posted saying so. As well there's a small hot tub in one corner of the room for guest enjoyment as well.

Pool hours are 7am - 11pm.

Also please note that several panels of the outside wall and wall the hallway shares are glass so people passing by can see into the pool area.

GYM

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
The gym can be found on the first floor, across from the pool. The room contains a couple treadmills, a few weight lifting machines, and some free weights for guest use.

Gym hours are 7am - 11pm.

BUSINESS CENTER

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
There is a business center on the first floor, next to the gym.

The business center contains several computers for guests to check their email, look up fun things they might be able to do in Oslo if they want to take a day trip to the city, or check their flight information.

For the guest that use them, everything will run and seem like it's connecting to the internet well. Email seems to be updating like normal, they get all the usual spam emails delivered, it looks like things send if they try to email family or friends. However, they will never receive emails from anyone in the outside world that are not just your general spam. Like their friends and family just haven't sent them anything while they're on vacation. And unbeknownst to them, their emails out will not actually reach their destination.

LIBRARY

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
The library is on the second floor. It's not just comprised of lots of shelves with books but also some comfy chairs so guests can settle in and read in the room itself. There's also a gas fireplace, a show that the hotel while holding a vintage feel has done some upgrades, with a couch and a couple chairs in front of it. The books will not hold any editions of canon for those in game - there will be no fourth wall breaks found here.

VIKING TYKES DAY CARE CENTER

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
For those with younger children, the hotel reception will make sure to note that they do offer a day care center for adults that would like to drop their kids off and know they're safe while they choose to attend some of the amenities and activities that may not be child appropriate. The Day Care has a staff employee who will watch the children once the children are signed in by a parent.

The room has puzzles, toys, children's books, and a small tv with some dvds of cartoons and movies that seems to always be playing something. There are a small stock of pillows and blankets for nap times, or children that are tired to snuggle into as well. They also stash a supply of juice boxes, milk, animal crackers, and fruit for snack time during the day. If the parents leave the children over lunch time, sandwiches will be supposed as well for children old enough to eat them. And bottles or baby food to those too young to eat solid food.

MOVIE ROOM

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
There is a small room on the second floor that has been mostly sound proofed in order to keep outside sounds from ruining the movies that are played and to keep the sounds of the movies from interrupting anyone on the floor. The hotel has specific movie nights set up that all guests are invited to come down and enjoy. However, when not being used for a scheduled movie night, guests can reserve the room to watch movies and tv show seasons from the small library that the hotel houses.

Like the library, there are no movies or tv shows for those in game - there will be no fourth wall breaks found here.

KARAOKE ROOM

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Like the movie room, the karaoke room has been sound proofed so people can sing and enjoy those that sing without anyone outside the room being bothered by the sound. The room has a small stage with several chairs and tables so people can sit and enjoy the songs. Occasionally the stage is taken over by a small band for some live music and the tables are nudged back to create a small dance floor.

There's a small bar in the back so people can get a drink without having to run down to the restaurant bar to get a drink.
While the room is open so people can come in.

CONFERENCE AND MEETING ROOMS

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
The third floor is comprised of several conference and meeting rooms. A couple of the rooms are set up with large tables and lots of chairs for board meeting kind of seating. The other two rooms are set up in a way that allows for a seminar or lecture with a podium and chairs facing the speaker. All four rooms contain phones and presentation equipment.

ROOMS

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
The room floors are fairly simple with ten rooms a piece. Some rooms have adjoining doors between them. Some rooms have two full beds while others have a single King. The rooms all hold a dresser with a tv on top, a small desk and desk chair, and an overstuffed comfy chair. The bathrooms are also simple, with a shower/tub combo, a sink, mirror on the wall with the sink, a towel rack, and a hair dryer. As well one of the nightstands next to the bed, there is an old style telephone.

VENDING MACHINES

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
There are some vending machines on the first, second, and third floors that can be found and used. They are set in pairs so one has various snacks for sale from chips to cookies and pretzels and the other has various drinks, sodas, waters, and a couple energy drinks. While people do buy from them, they never seem low in stock.

The set on the first floor are in the corridor by the bathrooms where you enter the pool area.

The set on the second floor and third floor are both just right in front of the elevator.

ELEVATOR

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
The Elevator is just inside the hallway off the lobby. There is only one elevator car and it is extremely old, so it takes time to go up or come down. There is no music playing to ease the ride while you're inside. The elevator itself is nice, clean, and looks almost vintage in it's appearance. The one interesting feature on it, when the doors were closed while you were inside it, if you look closely you can see a large wolf face carved into the metal though if you weren’t fully looking for it, it could simply be mistaken for an abstract design.

STAIRS

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
There are two stairwells for the hotel. One set is next to the elevator and one set is at the end of the hallway.

There is an emergency Exit at the end of the hall for the first floor next to the stairwell.

MOUNTAINS

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Behind the Hotel are lovely snowy mountains. It's the tail end of winter, but it's still cold enough and snowy enough that skiing is currently available should a guest wish to take to the ski trails.

HILL

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Closer to the hotel is a small hill that has some snow shoe and regular hiking trails that make a good walk but also the hill is high enough that the view from it is beautiful. As well there is a statue at the top of the hill of a wolf carved out of old stone and looks like it's been resting on this hill, watching over the hotel for centuries.

At the base of the hill is a small cave that the Hotel also offers caving, all overseen by a staff member with safety equipment of course.

FOREST

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Along the road that leads up to the hotel and framing the front of the hotel is a forest. It looks like the forest was actually split to allow the road to travel up to the hotel, the trees trying to crowd back together in some places. The sunlight doesn't penetrate the trees as well but there are some hiking trails that wind shallowly into their depths, never pressing too far or too deep before winding back around.

STABLES

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
There is a small stable that houses four Norwegian Fjord horses that can be signed out and ridden around the grounds. There are a couple trails along the hill that will make a giant loop back to the stables or into the forest and back to the stables.

LAKE

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-03-30 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
There is a small lake on the edge of the property that during the winter months when it's frozen over offers ice skating. The surface of the lake isn't solid enough to ice skate on, unfortunately, but it's also too frozen over at the moment to offer canoeing at the moment. For now, it's a nice place to hike to, to maybe take a small picnic lunch to, and just explore.

Though, if you see a shadow below the surface, it's best not to creep too close to inspect it.

Gift Shop

[personal profile] fenstaff 2021-09-05 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Like all hotels, Hotel Fen also has a gift shop just to one side of the reservation desk where you can buy cute knickknacks that have the hotel's name on it, as well as some fun snacks and drinks that might not be found at the restaurant. Bags of chips, little packages of cookies, energy drinks, gum, etc. As well, it sells toiletries in one small corner - though your room does restock your room supplied ones daily as well when housekeeping comes around.

The further you look around the gift shop you might wonder how this shop fits into the small space it had seemed to take up from the outside because there's a second room in the back with some interesting items. Direwolf plushies; replicas of Longclaw and Needle - though they're toys not real; replicas of MjΓΆlnir for purchase - they're listed as toys but for adults that know of Thor's hammer or have seen one MCU people it looks surprisingly real and seems to be fairly heavy - kids have no trouble lifting them above their heads like it weighs nothing though. There are even some shields and spears, like the swords all toys and not real.

Clothing wise in this second section also has helms that look right out of a valkyrie dream, cloaks that are heavy and fur lined (fine enough for any of the high lords of Westeros), some pants and shirts that look period - feel and could be right out of the more ancient Norse period they look to be from.

And on one small section of the wall are two interesting shirts and sweatshirt options - One that strangely reads "I survived Hotel Fen and all I got was this shirt" and one that reads "Twin Club only at Hotel Fen". The shirts and sweaters come in various colors and are incredibly soft and snuggly.

All items purchased at the gift shop can be charged to your room, so no money is needed at the time of transaction.
