▷ WELCOME
We are officially open! Thank you so much everyone, you've all been incredible so far! ♥
- Here's a handy spreadsheet with (hopefully) all the pertinent info in one place!
- If we made an oopsie regarding your character, please just let us know.
- Voucher redemptions are extended until the end of October. The change to your characters' HV from their purchases (as well as their debts) will be reflected when we roll into November.
- Our TDM will continue to be open all month, and now you know why. So go on, let your characters make some friends... and then worry when they disappear.
- Or die. They could die too.
- The CR meme is also still open, but you might rather use this new post for plotting specific to this month's shenanigans.
- Housekeeping offers still stand: taken list icon swapping, canon name updating for OCs, etc.
▷ ARRIVALS
We have a tab for Arrivals in our spreadsheet to make it easier for everyone to know who's who and when/how they came in. For our voluntary arrivals, if you would please be so kind to provide a quick info about the circumstances of your arrival here, it'll be much appreciated! We'll update the sheet accordingly too.
▷ PATRON
In keeping with the Norse mythology theme, the hotel will have a different patron deity monthly! Events may or may not be inspired by them, and your rune choices for your characters may or may not be relevant to this whole affair... but the most important part is really the offering. Got a wish? Are you asking for science? Or are you bored and just want to try hanging up someone from a tree? It's up to you and your characters — and the answer is up to the gods.
Be careful what you wish for, though.
▷ LASER TAG
Those who were in the first version of this sandbox knew this was coming, but probably not in this way! It's bigger and brighter now.
- There are 5 teams, named after the sons of Odin. Please see the Laser Tag tab of our spreadsheet for the assignments. They're mostly RNG, but as you can also see we've spread out the highest and lowest in terms of HV. The team captains were also "appointed" by the staff according to their HV; however, as noted in the log, teams can change this! Feel free to start a mutiny or have your characters battle it out on who should be the leader.
- Costumes have been generously supplied by the hotel staff to ensure that everyone gets into the fun! Here are your choices: Option A. Option B. Option C. Option D. Option E. If none of the options work for the characters, the staff will help them find something more to their preference but still in keeping with the theme.
- The only two things that are non-negotiable are the team assignments (thus no switching teams) and the outfit colors. All of the outfits are black with their corresponding glowing team color on them.
Team Thor: Yellow
Team Baldr: Blue
Team Hodr: Green
Team Vidar: Purple
Team Tyr: Red- Characters can still participate even without donning any of the costumes, but since the sensors are on the outfit, well, there's really no telling if their efforts will be worth anything, is there? Or to which team their scores are going?
- Characters are also given a headset that connects to the rest of their team so they can talk and coordinate with everyone they need to.
- On the day of the game, the laser tag field appears out of no where, carved somewhat into the forest on one side. It definitely wasn't here when people checked in, and yet it sits like it's always been there. The walls on the outside look carved of old stone, similar to that of the offering altar, and there are paths that direct everyone to their team's entrance. Only those of a team can enter a particular entrance, and once inside you'll be greeted by an octagonal room with a few couches and TVs in one corner, a table with some bottled water at the ready, a couple of charging stations for the laser guns, and a wall stocked with laser guns. It's not just your normal laser gun either; there are pistols, shotguns, even a few sniper rifles to choose from. And there's a door that will lead you out to the course. It's opaque when the teams enter, but once the game starts, it'll disappear like it was never there and you can head out guns blazing. Yes, you can see squatters and the dead from the other teams' doorways once the game starts, but no, you can't shoot them in their room nor can you enter. (Visual map can be viewed here. You're welcome.)
- Rules are fairly simple and are posted around the gear room as well as in the team hang outs.
- Once on the field, players will not be let off until they have died or won the game. Better keep that in mind if you're just there to make out in the dark...
- Each laser gun holds ten charges at a time. In order to recharge you must either reach a charging station or return to your team hub.
- Players can be hit three times before they are considered 'dead' on the field. Once dead, your gun will stop working
or will itand you'll be requested to either return to your team hub or leave the field completely.- Team hubs are locations that are considered 'safe'. No other team can step foot in them and laser blasts won't penetrate the doorways. However, squatting in a hub is frowned upon and if you spend too much time in your team's, you may find yourself somewhere else on the laser tag map after you blink. (The dead won't be ejected from the team hub, but will be invited to take a seat and watch the action from a couple of TVs that flicker between cameras on the field. There's also a sitting area outside of the active field for dead players to watch the action with some drinks and snacks for their hard work.)
- No switching teams.
- Physical violence is discouraged. This is laser tag, not touch football.
- The field is actually a null zone, so sorry for those with powers! You're all human and vulnerable here. Especially to the laser guns.
- The game ends when only one team remains with active players.
- How are we playing this out, then? Here is a sample! Basically we will be doing an OOC roundrobin, but of course there's no stopping you all from writing out your threads. Because yeah, while RNG is fun, we can't chalk it all up to RNG.
- The teams will first respond to this toplevel with their lineup. Anyone in the team can tag; it doesn't have to be the player of the IC team captain.
- We are asking all teams to have a team roster post up by Oct. 7th so we can start the laser tag officially shortly after.
- IC team introduction optional. 😉
- A mod tag kicks off the start of the game. Posting order then applies, capped by a mod tag at the end of the 'round'.
- Remember the map? We'll be referencing that, just so you know. Because your mods are extra like that.
- A team has 24 hours from the time the previous team tags the thread. Anyone in the team can tag, and it doesn't have to be an IC narrative. We'll take bullet points, even. How many times this person shot who. Who's out and who's dead. Who's starting a fire or throwing a tantrum. What's important is that everyone knows what your team is doing.
- If a team is unable to comment after 24 hours, they are skipped for the round and assumed to be doing what they were still doing previously. The next team can then come in, and the 24-hour timer starts back up.
- The mod team also gets 24 hours, but we'll do our best to be quicker! 😉
- As mentioned in the log, some players are not walking away unscathed. The how and when during the game they're injured (or 'killed') is up to you. Why, well, that is the mystery, isn't it? But yes, these lucky guests will be injured enough to require medical attention and R&R for the next couple of days:
- Richie Tozier
- John Constantine (DCAU)
- Thor Odinson
- Alexandra Trese
- Loki
- Pietro Maximoff
- Sadie Adler
- Julia
- Jeyne Westerling
- Alex DiStefano
- Ronstadt
- Malcolm Bright
- Bucky Barnes
- Roshni Varadkar
- Aline Starkov
- Steve Rogers
- Honor Casey
- Rey
- Hannah Solo
- Zed Martin
- Cleopatra Selene
- Natasha Romanoff
- Gloria
- When a character 'dies', everyone hears the Hunger Games cannon. Yes, that one. The team hubs will also have a TV that shows the leaderboard, with all the stats and stuff.
- As always, the lines are open if something about this isn't working out for you! Please do reach out and talk to us. This event is a large part of why we put a cap in place, but we've never done this before either so we don't know how this is going to turn out. Fun and successful, we hope!
▷ NETWORK HUB
We originally set the network option to be just one post, but it seems hard to keep up with because you'll have to open a different page to see if something's up. So for this month, we've added a toplevel for front desk message exchanges. We hope this is easier for everyone, but if not, we're welcome to suggestions.
▷ CHAPTER II
The next game log, which is basically part 2 of this month's, will go up on October 22, Friday, 12:01 AM CST. We were just going to put that last prompt along with the others, but we didn't want to distract anyone from laser tag.
The month's check in will also be found through that log or the OOC post. Don't worry about it for now!
▷ QUESTIONS
We can't say this enough: please feel free to ask your questions! Just leave them here and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
