I. I WALKED UNDER A BUS, I GOT HIT BY A TRAIN
and it felt so good i want to do it again β™«β™ͺ
On the morning of May 22nd, Saturday, the hotel bus mysteriously appears outside the hotel's front door. Even if you were loitering in the lobby or somehow managed to go outside, you wouldn't have seen it roll in. It's suddenly just... there.

It's empty, though. No driver, no passengers. No gas, even. It's also old and not airconditioned, but that should be fine since it's a way out, right? You'll take what you can get.

Only it doesn't work that way. Once there are eight creatures inside or the clock strikes eight (in the morning), the doors shut and the bus just starts to move out. To where, who knows? And, hey, where did that driver come from?

Those left behind are free to give chase, but once they reach That Tree... well, you know what happens.

The hotel staff will also deny the bus' sighting. What bus are you talking about? They'll even corral you inside, perhaps a tad bit aggressively, since your safety is their responsibility. There might be killers on the loose and more people might turn up missing!

II. HARD TO TELL IF YOU WERE EVER HERE
i disappear, disappear β™«β™ͺ
By noon, Zed Martin and Alex DiStefano get calls from the front desk. The staff on duty is profusely apologetic, saying that she'd made a mistake, and begs them not to report her to the manager or she'll get fired. They're then requested to move to their new rooms: 408 and 801, respectively.

The staff on duty, however, talks like they both just checked in. She'll ignore anything being said about having been in the hotel for a while, and will eventually end up just repeating herself no matter the flow of the conversation. If they resist moving out, they'll receive the same phone call at the same time every day, for the rest of the week.

Anyone who investigates Natasha Romanoff and Dick Grayson's rooms will find them spotless. Like they've never been there.

In the afternoon, a man in sunglasses and a fedora hat arrives. He's introduced as Hoárr, a detective from Oslo, and the staff on duty requests the guests to be nice to him. Hoárr is cryptic as hell, however; he doesn't speak unless it's someone from the hotel who addresses him, and unless he's interrogating people. Which he's quick to do, inviting the following to Odin's altar out back one by one: John Marston, Alexandra Trese, Anna Morasca, Bucky Barnes and Poe Dameron.

He'll also call on the 7F guests. Why? Because Jacen Solo and Cleopatra Selene are missing, though unlike Nat and Dick's case, all signs of occupancy are there: the items they've obtained, the pets they've collected...

Sakura Kinomoto will also turn up missing, if anyone looks for her.

Then everyone will wake up and find the bus out front. Nobody even remembers falling asleep, especially if sleep's not your thing. One thing's for certain, though: it's Saturday again.

OOC NOTES, ETC.
  • If you haven't figured it out by now, the number 8 is unlucky in Norse mythology! Time will also loop for eight days. You're welcome.
  • NPC interactions this time around will alas have to be OOC. Come this way to talk to Hoárr!
  • Feel free to start new threads in this log. Or just continue under your toplevel in the first one. Whatever is easiest for you, really.
  • For now there won't be a separate OOC post. We've just made an OOC plotting section below.
  • Questions?

Find anything good?

[ He glances up at his counterpart and eyes the cigarette pack. There's a pause, then, he pulls out the ligher in the pocket of his pants. He flicks the light on and offers it to himself. ]

Or, at least, something thats entertaining outside of bloody laser tag.

Not as good as I want, but it's still info.

[John accepts the light, gratefully. And then takes a deep drag, he needed it.]

Wish I could tell you that I've gained insight as to a way out, but it's still something to go off of. [He sighs.] I've played with the gods before, not my favorite pastime, but it's a little easier to make contact here. Did you visit the alter?

[ He nods then. Information of any sort is useful in their fields. He'll take what he can get. There's a click of the lighter as he shuts it and slips it back into his pocket. ]

Oh, I did. Got a bit of a pain in the eye for it too. Turns out Odin isn't much of a fan of me. Not too surprising, fairly sure I got the knickers of the prick in control of Mathias all in a twist too. [ He turns to look at his counterpart. ] I'm guessin' he was a bit nicer to you.

I've played games with the gods before. It takes a little self-control to get anywhere with 'em. Not that it's easy with the arrogance that usually comes with being so high up the pedestal. [He doesn't blame his counterpart at all for being less than charitable feeling towards the Allfather. Odin is one of the few with the title of deity that he can get along with overall. Most of them he finds absolutely insufferable. And with how miserable the other Constantine seems to be, it'd be hard to behave himself.]

Might as well get to the nasty business. [He takes another drag, and then speaks again.] So we're not the first batch of guests trapped here. The hotel itself is a death trap, Odin isn't a part of it. [Which makes him think even more of RagnarΓΆk.] So they've had groups before us, all have died. No bodies on the grounds either. And no ghosts. While it's nice to have a little break from the nagging, the fact that the spirits can't follow me here doesn't bode well. Suppose it makes sense. You can't sacrifice a spirit. They're not useful. And sacrifice is a big theme here.

Ah, well, all out of patience and self-control when it comes to them, me. [ A gestures to himself. ] Seeing enough people die trapped in a cursed town and watchin' them come back has made me a bit less polite. Even if these gods are a bit more forthcoming than the bastard I had to contend with before.

[ Of course, Mathias may not even have been controlled by a god for all he knows. He apparently wasn't worth keeping around long. Not that he could blame a god if that was true. Hell, he does even think he was worth the trouble.

John sighs and places the cigarette back in his mouth as he listens. It might not seem that he is, but oh, he is. His eyes wander back to the strange bus as he takes in the account. ]

Death implies all that matter and energy goes somewhere. No ghosts means somethin' is eatin' souls, and well, I doubt mine is going to taste bloody good. Sacrifice might be a bit obvious -- so what would they be sacrifcin' for if Odin isn't apart of it?
